AFL IN PARADISE
About Port Douglas:
There’s a reason Port Douglas is often named among the top tourist destinations in Australia; it’s paradise.
Lined with palm trees and surrounded by pristine blue water, the tropical town of Far North Queensland is the gateway to not one but two UNESCO World Heritage-listed natural wonders in the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest.
Coupled with the endless list of hidden waterfalls, hiking tracks, fishing sites and world-class restaurants, it’s clear to see why Port Douglas has become the tourist mecca we know it to be.
But aside from the wonderful wildlife and scenery, there is also a vibrant local community who welcome visitors with open arms and invite them to become a part of the town.
Walking into any of the restaurants, cafes or shops, you’ll quickly find the locals are always up for a chat and open to getting to know you, whether you’re just passing through or settling in for the long haul.
The weekly community markets serve as a great way to not only support the local artisans and producers but also get to know them, learn a bit about their story and perhaps leave with a bit of local knowledge on some weekly specials or a nice watering hole!
Why play AFL here?
Playing AFL in the international tourist mecca of Port Douglas is a unique sporting experience offering players the chance to expand their skills in a warmer climate. At the Crocs, we aim to improve and develop our players skills and abilities, enchancing their natural abilities and working towards advancing their skills in a fun and supportive environment.
The Port Douglas Football Club, affiliated with Cairns AFL, operates under a professionally structured committee and football department that follows their mission statement of helping young people grow and improve both as footballers and as human beings.
With our first-class facilities, lush green ground, supportive coaching and management team and laidback lifestyle, playing footy in Port Douglas is nothing short of a dream come true and the Crocs are giving recruits young and old, the footballing opportunity of a lifetime.
Come and see for yourself!
