AFL Cairns has partnered with two of Australia’s leading mental health charities to raise awareness and funds during Round 11.
The inaugural AFL Cairns ‘Mental Health Round’ will be held in Round 11 of the Seniors and Women’s fixture, taking place on Saturday July 8th.
AFL Cairns has joined with both Beyond Blue and Headspace to bring a series of activations that will take place across all games on the selected weekend to raise funds to support those struggling with their mental health. The money raised will go to support services around Cairns, Far North Queensland the rest of the country.
AFL Cairns Football Operations Manager, Ben Carbis, says it’s an important topic and one they are glad to support.
“We know a lot of people in our football community have had some tough times in the past few years and it’s important for us to show our support.
“We are excited to have two fantastic charities supporting the inaugural Mental Health Round. These partnerships are extremely important in providing support to the league and the wider community, so we are looking forward to working together in 2023 and beyond.”
Round 11 is set to be a blockbuster with the Crocs taking on the Cairns Saints at Griffiths Park. Last year both matches were decided by less than a goal before the Crocs got the last laugh with a win in the Preliminary Final.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to Beyond Blue or Headspace and remember to check in on your mates.
